THURSDAY, Sept. 2 (HealthDay News) -- Many Americans have skewed perceptions when it comes to their weight, often believing they are thinner than they really are, even when the scales are shouting otherwise, a new poll finds.

For many Americans fat is the new "norm." Â More and more people are unable to accurately describe themselves using their height-to-weight ratio â known as body mass index â the scale that determines levels of overweight and obesity, a new Harris Interactive/HealthDay poll found. Â
